ISLAMABAD: Vowing to continue as the secretary general of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI), the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pervez Khattak, said some vested interests were raising the dual office issue just for point-scoring as there were no differences in the party on the matter.

“Only three members raised the matter at the meeting. And the majority of the members of the central executive committee and workers reposed confidence in me,” he told reporters here.

Khattak said the party chairman Imran Khan asked him to retain the office of the secretary general and continue to look after the party affairs. He said the office-bearers of the party had also announced support to him over the issue, adding that two-third majority of the members had voted in his favour through a unanimous resolution during the meeting of the central executive committee of the party.

“Some of the members had raised the matter about my dual office for point-scoring,” he said, adding that he would follow instructions of the party chairman Imran Khan. The chief minister insisted there was no bar on the dual office in the PTI constitution.

He said process of negotiations had been started with coalition parties about the local elections in province.    Internews
