DOHA: Ezdan Real Estate Company and Waseef, a subsidiary of Barwa real estate giant, will look after Al Furjan Markets on behalf of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce.
Both entities will sign rent contracts with tenants, hand over shops in Furjan Markets to them and manage them, including carrying out administrative responsibilities and regular maintenance work.
If some shops need any alterations, permission would be needed from Ezdan and Waseef and not from the ministry.
The government is building Al Furjan Markets in 44 remote locations across Qatar to ensure local residents can access items of basic needs in their areas.
A total of 645 shops are being offered for tenancy to Qatari companies through lottery.
QNA (Qatar News Agency) reported yesterday that Al Furjan Markets which are ready will be handed over to Ezdan and Waseef next week.
On behalf of the ministry, both will contact potential tenants, sign rent agreements, hand over shops and collect monthly rents.
Deals were signed by the Head of the Permanent Committee for Managing Government Markets’ Real Estate Fund at the ministry, Yahya bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Waseef’s CEO, Abdullah Jabara Al Rumaihi, and General Manager, Ezdan, Ali Al Obaidly.
