QIC Group President and CEO Khalifa Abdulla Turki Al Subaey (pictured) was conferred the “Manager of the Year” award and Qatar Insurance Company (QIC) awarded “Best Regional Enterprise” by the International Socretes Committee at the “Excellence in Quality” International Conference.
The award ceremony, which was recently held in Lucern, Switzerland honours award recipients for their professional achievements and unique contribution in the respective sectors.
The nominations for the awards were for CEOs and senior executives, business excellence leaders, top experts on quality and strategic management, leading healthcare service providers, rectors, chancellors, and upper-level executives. The main focus of the conference was on the role model of excellence in three primary sectors: corporate, healthcare and medical travel, and education management.
Highly impressed with the global performance of QIC Group, the International Socrates Committee praised QIC and the country of its origin, Qatar for emerging as a sophisticated financial hub, offering tremendous business opportunities that are reflected in QIC’s stellar performance. Khalifa was recognised for his outstanding leadership, global contribution in the field of insurance and for implementation of innovation and outstanding management.
Khalifa joined QIC in 1986. Under his leadership, the Gross Written Premium (GWP) of the company has grown from QR52.2m in 1986 to QR9.9bn at the end of 2016. The consolidated net profit rose significantly from QR14.4m in 1986 to QR1.034bn at the end of 2016.
Following Khalifa’s well thought out strategy of diversification, today QIC has transformed into the leading insurance group in the Middle-East and entire African region in terms of profitability and market capitalisation. In addition, it has grown into a well-diversified global insurance group with offices in the GCC and in Bermuda, London, Zurich, Malta and Singapore.
