Doha, Qatar: The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara will host a series of free movie screenings at the Al Thuraya Planetarium in Building 41 throughout August, offering visitors of all ages an opportunity to explore space and astronomy through immersive full-dome presentations.
The screenings will be held on upcoming Tuesdays. On August 11 the programme will feature two shows with The Perfect Little Planet at 5pm followed by The Great Solar System Adventure at 6pm. Katara said on its social media accounts.
On August 18, visitors can watch Stars at 5pm and Polaris 3D Show at 6pm. The final screenings, on August 25, will feature The Zula Patrol Show at 5pm and The Great Solar System Adventure at 6pm.
The shows are presented in both English and Arabic and are suitable for all age groups. Visitors can enjoy the programmes free of charge, with limited seats available. Online booking and e-tickets are required, and tickets will be made available on the Katara website one day before each screening.
Visitors are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes before the show for registration.
Located at Katara, the Al Thuraya Planetarium is a 2,240-square-metre facility designed to cater to both children and adults. Its full-dome digital system features a 22-metre screen and state-of-the-art digital projectors, providing an immersive viewing experience.
The planetarium is named after the Pleiades star cluster, also known as the Seven Sisters or M45. Visible from locations around the world, the Pleiades has been an important star cluster in Arab astronomical traditions since ancient times.
