DOHA: Hosts Qatar Under-19s crushed Turkmenistan 7-0 to maintain their perfect record in the AFC Championship qualifying stage at Al Arabi Stadium in Doha yesterday.
After beating India 2-0 in the opening round on Friday, Qatar, coached by Felix Sanchez have six points.
Braces from Nasser Ibrahim (10, 23), Mohammed Ahmed (65, 84) as well as a strike from Ahmad Jassim (30) and an own goal from Turkmenistan were on target in the big victory.
In another match played yesterday, Uzbekistan registered a 5-0 victory over Nepal at the same venue.
The 5-0 victory maintain’s Uzbekistan’s perfect start, having beaten Turkmenistan 1-0 on Sunday.
Besides hosts Qatar, Uzbekistan, Nepal, India and Turkmenistan are competing in the group. The winner of the five-team group along with the winners of the other eight groups, five from West zone and four from East will play in the finals in October 2014 as well as the six best placed sides hosts Myanmar.
In the next round of matches of the qualifying stage, India play Uzbekistan at 4.30pm, while Qatar face Nepal at 7.00pm.
Both matches will take place at Al Arabi Stadium tomorrow.
