CAIRO: The health conditions of prominent Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi’s daughter are deteriorating, her family said Monday.
Ola al-Qaradawi, 55, and her husband were detained by Egyptian authorities in June for alleged links to the Muslim Brotherhood.
On Sunday, judicial authorities remanded her into custody for 15 days pending investigation into the accusations.
In a statement, her family said Ola had lost consciousness during Sunday’s hearing to renew her remand, holding Egyptian authorities responsible for her health.
“What’s happening with her a slow killing behind bars,” the statement said.
In August, Egyptian authorities froze the assets of Qaradawi’s six sons, as well as Ola.
