Minister hails Francophonie relations

Al Kuwari has reaffirmed the the close ties between Qatar and many friendly countries in the political, cultural and economic spheres, saying that Qatar’s participation in the International Forum of la Francophonie contributes to the development of such relations.

Addressing the 29th Ministerial Conference of the International Organization of the Francophonie, now underway in Paris, 

Dr Al Kuwari said Qatar is part of Arab and Islamic civilisation, which is characterised by its long history of openness as well as material and intellectual exchanges, adding that it has continued this tradition of openness, tolerance and peaceful exchanges that is the basis of the policy framed by the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

He said that Qatar’s joining the Francophonie Organization is due to the return of this partnership, stressing that the country is setting before its eyes the yield on the organisation as well. He pointed out that Qatar plays a leading economic role as an investor in the international arena. In order to support this role in the Francophonie countries, Qatar is now active in opening diplomatic and consular offices in member states to facilitate exchanges with friendly countries, he said.

Dr Al Kuwari praised the achievement of Qatar’s equestrian team in Paris at the recent Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomph in which the Qatari filly Treve won. He also lauded Qatar’s participation for the first time in the Games of La Francophonie, which took place from September 7 to 14 in the southern French city of Nice. QNA
