DOHA: The Ministry of Environment has supplied plastic boxes meeting Qatari standards and specifications to fishermen for transporting fish to the market.
The Fish Department at the Ministry distributed boxes in two different sizes to all fishing vessels that are registered with the department. The size of the box was decided based on the fishing tools and the requirements of the boats. The boxes are made of high quality plastic that doesn’t spoil the catch or cause health hazards to consumers, the Ministry said in a statement.
The aim of providing the boxes is to help fishermen preserve the quality of the catch and prevent getting the fish damaged due to poor storage.
