Mathaf celebrates first K-12 student art exhibition

In the spring of 2012, the Education Department of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, launched its first student art competition. 
All schools in Qatar were invited to participate, and the museum received over 300 submissions from schools in Qatar. Students created work ranging from installations, videos, paintings and mixed media to sculptures and photographs.
After much anticipation, the museum has selected the winning works and will present them as part of ‘Mathaf Student Art Exhibition: Transform’.
A judging panel evaluated and judged the works based on the following criteria: concept originality, use of material, expression of the idea of "transformation", and process documentation.

Mathaf will open an exhibition on December 15 to recognise the work of students who have been selected with a reception. “Students, families, and the public are invited to celebrate the artistic expressions of Qatar’s students,” said a Mathaf press release. 
The exhibition and supporting material will be available to view by free admission from December 15 to January 13, 2013.
