DOHA: Ninety percent of the Qatari flag vying for the Guinness World Records as the largest in the world is finished for its launch two days before National Day, Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti said.
Speaking during a meeting with volunteers and coordinators, he said the idea was to hang it from a high place or be unveiled in the sea to be pulled by dhows but Guinness rules require laying the flag on a flat ground. The Flag of Gratitude & Loyalty campaign was brought out by Mukaim Rashid Al Khayarin Al Khayarin and got support from youth who are volunteers working on the project.
Started in September, the campaign not only aims at setting a world record but also expressing people’s unity, loyalty and devotion to the country and pay tribute to the leadership.
