Emir to meet GCC leaders today

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will meet the leaders of the GCC countries on their arrival today in Doha to participate in the 35th GCC Summit. 


Condolences sent to Moroccan King


Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable to King Mohammed VI of Morocco, expressing condolences and sympathy following the death of the Minister of State, Abdellah Baha.
The Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani sent a similar cable to King Mohammed VI.
The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani sent a cable of condolences to his counterpart Abdelilah Benkirane.

PM meets Iran, Tunisia ministers


Doha: The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday met Tunisian Agriculture Minister Lassaad Lachaal and reviewed issues of mutual interest.
The Premier also met Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi and discussed topics of common concern.


Media centre for GCC summit opens


Doha: The Assistant Foreign Minister for Services and Follow-up Affairs H E Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa yesterday opened the media centre for the 35th GCC summit at Sheraton Hotel.
He praised arrangements, including studios, over 100 computers, 50 printers, fax and photocopying machines, all connected to the Internet via cable and wireless networks. The centre has started receiving media personnel from Arab and other countries. Live coverage is being provided for Arab channels, and locations for Aljazeera, Qatar TV and Qatar Radio as well as Arab and foreign media. Qatar News Agency has organised an exhibition of photos from GCC summits over the years.


Qatar, Azerbaijan in ICT deal


DOHA: Qatar and Azerbaijan yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in information and communications technologies on the sidelines of the ITU Telecom World 2014.
The MoU was signed by the Minister of Information and Communications Technology H E Dr Hessa Sultan Al Jaber, and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov.
It aims to facilitate further development and adoption of ICT, and exchange of experiences through studies, visits and transfer of knowledge. QNA
