DOHA: A workshop and exhibition of works of students of Independent schools for girls opened yesterday at Katara Art Studios.
Entitled ‘To whom it may concern my innovation’, the workshops and exhibition by Al Bayan Primary Independent School for Girls were opened by Katara General Manager Dr Khalid Ibrahim Al Sulaiti.
They include drawing, paper folding art, toy-making and other handicrafts.
Works on display comprise innovative creations by students such as drawing, calligraphy and decorative arts as well as paintings imitating works of famous painters such as one by aboriginal painter Judy Watson.
Dr Al Sulaiti visited the exhibition and workshops and praised students’ creativity.
As Katara is working to diversify its events to include different areas of thought and creativity, it is keen to give a chance to different segments of society, including children, to develop their creativity, Dr Al Sulaiti said.
School Director Najla Al Kuwari said the exhibition is a translation of the school’s keenness to nurture students’ talents and provide support based on the curriculum. The expo is the result of a campaign the school had initiated, Al Kuwari added.
Ninety students from nine Independent schools are taking part in the exhibition which aimed to bring students together to exchange knowledge and experiences and encourage their participation in such events, she said. The Peninsula
