DOHA: Qatar stocks plummeted as the index dropped 291.55 points (2.31 percent) when the bourse closed at 12,353.32 points Tuesday.
The traded value increased to QR 554.92 million from QR 416.201 million registered Monday.
The traded volume increased to 11,667,400 shares from 6,904 transactions compared to 7,038,624 shares from 4,261 transactions on Monday.
Indices of all sectors ended in the red today with insurance declining the most (3.93 percent) to 3,569.28 points.
Real estate index dropped 3.45 percent to 2,414.39 points while telecommunications dropped 3 percent to 1,408.1 points.
Shares of most companies were in the red zone during trading today.
The QSE index declined 256.70 points (2.03 percent) points to 12,388.17 points within nine minutes of opening today. In just 598 trades, 33 companies went down and only one gained with two remaining unchanged.
From the 43 listed companies, shares of 42 exchanged hands today. From these, 40 went down and one gained while one remained unchanged.
Commercial Bank of Qatar share was the sole gainer, up 0.58 percent to QR 69.30 at close.
Gulf International Services share fell 5.96 percent (QR5.90) when it closed at QR93.10.
From consumer sector, Widam Foods share dropped QR 2.40 to negate its Monday's gain of QR2.10 (3.35 percent) when its share closed today at QR62.40 (3.70 percent).
Ooredoo share dropped 3.12 percent when it closed at QR 114.80 while Vodafone Qatar was down 2.61 percent to QR16.80. (QNA)
