DOHA: Soon you will be able to monitor and control your house from your office.
Ooredoo is expected to launch ‘smart home’ concept in the near future which will enable a user to see what is happening at home on his phone.
Under the technology, the phone will have Ooredoo developed Apps (applications) that will connect different functions of a house to a smartphone, turning that house into ‘smart home’.
The user will be able to lock and unlock the door to check who entered the house. The users, at any time of the day, will be able to watch what his children or other family members are doing at home as cameras in the house will be connected to the smartphone.
“A person will be able to pre-configure conditions on which he should get alert. If the alert is set for opening of the door, the user will get alert every time someone opens the door. He will instantly get pictures of the person who has entered the house,” a senior official of Ooredoo told The Peninsula. “Currently many residents have automated security and other features installed at their home. We are integrating all these features at a single place- on your smart phone,” he said.
The smart homes will also have next generation smart TVs which will allow people to do shopping through Ooredoo developed application. The users will have the option to pay instantly or at the end of the month. The TV will also allow the user to select the bandwidth. It means that if the user wants to view a movie in high definition mode, he will be able to pay for this bandwidth only for the length of the movie.
He will not be required to subscribe for this bandwidth for a day or month.
Another App which will make life of users easy is controlling your car through phone.
“With the help of this app, people will be able to open and lock a car, switch on and turn off ACs through smartphones,” said the official.
If you think the idea of smart home is futuristic and will take many years to turn into reality, then you are wrong because it is expected to become reality in near futre.
“The concept of smart home is not about the distant future, people will be able to see this concept soon,” said the official.
These apps will be available on multiple platforms like Android and iOS. This will allow applications to be downloaded on handsets of different makes.
