Doha: The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani has urged Syrian President Bashar Al Assad to take a bold decision in the interest of his country and stop the bloodshed there, stressing that all parties are now ready for any solution that will quickly stop the violence.
In an interview with Al Jazeera aired last evening, the Prime Minister said Assad had not come up with anything new in his speech last Sunday to resolve the crisis. Assad’s address fell into a familiar pattern of procrastination, he added.
On developments in Iraq and accusations against Qatar in this regard, the Prime Minister said some politicians looked for another party to blame when they failed to solve an issue, and added that blaming Qatar for such issues had become easier. “What interests Qatar in fuelling issues in Iraq?” he asked, stressing that Qatar’s interest lay in Iraq’s stability and in consensus among all Iraqi parties.”
