Ottawa: Canada lost 4,300 jobs in December as gains in full-time work were offset by part-time job losses, the government statistical agency said yesterday.
Full-time employment rose by 54,000 in the month, while there was a decline of 58,000 in part-time work, said Statistics Canada.
In all of 2014, there were 186,000 jobs created, most of them in the second half of the year, the agency said.
However, in the last two months job growth came to a screeching halt. The unemployment rate remained at 6.6 percent.
In December, there were 24,000 fewer women employed while 23,000 unemployed men found work.
