Athens--Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias will travel to Moscow on Wednesday at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, his ministry said in a statement.
The meeting will take place the same day as a summit in Minsk where the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany hope to sign a peace deal to defuse fighting that has killed at least 5,400 people since April.
It also coincides with an extraordinary meeting of eurozone finance minister in Brussels on Greece's push to renegotiate the terms of its massive international bailout.
The new radical-left government in Athens has been open about wanting to forge closer links with Russia.
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Defence Minister Panos Kammenos have both been invited by the Russian government to travel to Moscow in the coming months.
