Putrajaya, Malaysia---Malaysia's highest court on Tuesday upheld a five-year jail sentence handed down to opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in a contentious sodomy conviction that he has rejected as a political conspiracy.
"We affirm the five-year sentence," Chief Justice Arifin Zakaria said, shortly after announcing that the Federal Court had rejected Anwar's bid to overturn last year's conviction.
