Doha: The GCC Customs Authorities are to start their subregional training course in Doha today.
Fleet Major General Nasser Mohamed Al Ali, the Chairman of the National Committee on Arms Embargo (NCAE) is to open the event due to be held at La Cigale hotel under the patronage of H E Major General Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.
The course comes as part of the key role played by the GCC Austoms Authorities related to Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).
The CWC aims to eliminate weapons of mass destruction by prohibiting development, production, acquisition, stockpiling, retention, transfer and use of chemical weapons by states parties.
The course will feature a set of key topics such as an introduction to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, and chemicals that should be duly monitored, transportation conditions, special training on import and export, recommendations of the World Customs Organization (WCO), and database chemical analysis of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and trans-shipment.
Meanwhile Fleet Major General Al Ali will open on Tuesday morning a training course for representatives of the national bodies concerned in the Asian countries parties required to fulfil the requirements of advertising in accordance with Article VI of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
The training course will continue until Thursday.
