DOHA: The Ministry of Labour over the past three months received more than 2,000 complaints from workers about their employers’ not providing air tickets.
There were 2,115 complaints —the largest number — related to denial of air tickets, followed by late payment of salaries — 1,908, said a report posted on the website of the Ministry.
The Labour Department at the Ministry also received 1,845 complaints about denial of end of service bonus, 1,765 related to leave allowances, and 42 regarding overtime allowances.
The Department solved 1,717 labour disputes amicably and at least 236 complaints were referred to the court.
Some 88,473 work contracts were endorsed during the three months and 33,358 contracts have been registered at all branches of the Department (Al Ruwais, Al Muntaza, Industrial Area, Al Wakra and Al Khor).
The Department also endorsed 7,378 documents for recruitment of new workers, 87,853 job contracts and 440 experience certificates. Professions of 1,218 people were also
changed.
