DOHA: The Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC) said yesterday that it was working to develop an employment system for nurses to attract more Qataris to the profession.
A new system has been developed for promotion of Qatari nurses in a way that meets their aspirations.
It aims to create opportunities for Qatari nurses who hold certificates that meet Qatari standards, PHCC said in a statement yesterday.
As for promotion of nurses, PHCC is following rules applied by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). They are different from the promotion mechanism stipulated by the human resources law.
If there is a higher position available and if the nominees fulfil the minimum requirements to fill that position and carry out the responsibilities demanded by the job, they can be promoted. They are not required to work in a position for a specific period to be promoted to a higher position, said the statement.
PHCC said it had given top priority to promotion of Qatari nurses. However, some vacant positions require working in shifts, or sometimes the vacant positions can be in health centres in relatively distant areas that may not be preferred by Qataris, it added.
