QFC Regulatory Authority names Eisa Ahmed Abdulla as COO & MD

DOHA: The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Regulatory Authority announced yesterday a number of new appointments that aim to enhance the future of financial regulation in Qatar. 
QFC Regulatory Authority appointed Eisa Ahmed Abdulla as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Managing Director. In addition, the Regulatory Authority has appointed Fatma Abdulrahman Al Meer to the position of Director of Finance. 
In his new role, Abdulla will be responsible for the Corporate Services division including Office of the General Counsel, Operations, Information Technology, Human Resources, Organisational Development, Corporate Communications, Translation and the Regulatory Authority’s Qatarisation programme. 
Abdulla worked at QFC previously as Chief Administrative Officer, joining in June 2014 from a major telecommunications provider in Qatar. He brings in more than twenty years of management experience from various industries including telecommunications, the energy sector and transportation. 
Abdulla’s appointment follows the retirement of Otello Sturino, Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director, Corporate Services, for the past four years. 
As for Al Meer who is the second appointment QFC Regulatory Authority made, she began her career in finance in January 2010 as a graduate trainee at the Regulatory Authority. She is a graduate of Leeds University in the UK with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance. In late 2014, Al Meer received the highest marks in Qatar on her exam for professional certification from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants at Operational Level.
