Doha: Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) organised an ‘Iftar Meet’ for community members and social organisations at Ashoka Hall.
Guest Speaker Hamad Abdul Rehman highlighted the significance of Ramadan and how fasting helps people live together.
R K Singh, Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian embassy, Major Ahmed Mohammed Al Hassan Al Mohannadi from the Ministry of Interior and Yousuf Ahmed Al Jassim from the Office of the Minister of Environment also spoke.
ICC President Girish Kumar welcomed the participants and conveyed Ramadan greetings and message from Ambassador Sanjiv Arora who is in India.
Captain Ravi Kumar, D A, from the embassy, Suneel Thapliyal, Second Secretary at the embassy and UCC Coordinating Officer, Indian community members and representatives of ICBF, IBPN, business community leaders and affiliated organisations of ICC were present, along with India’s Senior Men’s National Volleyball team of 19. The team is in Qatar to participate in four-nation volleyball friendly tournament organised by Qatar Volleyball Association. Voliq (Volleyball Loving Indians in Qatar) officials were also present. ICC Management Committee and staff coordinated the event and General Secretary Divakar Poojary compered it. About 150 guests attended.
