DOHA: Dar Al Sharq launched an initiative to support social responsibility awards in Qatar in line with Qatar National 2030.
It has set up a committee of experts and specialists in the area of social responsibility to assess reports and initiatives taken by corporations and companies in the field of social responsibility.
The panel will set criteria for selecting winners.
The winners will be selected on the sideline of the celebrations marking the release of the new edition of the White Book on social responsibility in November.
During the first meeting of the committee, Dr Khaled Al Jaber, Deputy Chief Editor, Al Sharq, said the initiative is first of its kind and aims to consolidate the idea and culture of social responsibility.
He said it will lay the foundation and framework for social responsibility in accordance to Qatar National Vision 2030.
By adopting the initiative Dar Al Sharq aims to promote the culture of social service in society and encourage people to contribute to the comprehensive development of Qatar under the leadership of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
