New Delhi: Delhi Police personnel have not been able to trace, in West Bengal, the kin of the maid who died while working at the home of a lawmaker in the national capital. Earlier, the woman’s son had gone missing.
A team of Delhi Police was sent to West Bengal after Shehzan, the 21-year-old son of the dead maid, Rakhi, went missing from outside the Chanakyapuri police station on Thursday night.
Police found the family home in West Bengal’s 24-Parganas district bolted from outside. Shehzan’s mobile phone was switched off.
Sources said the police team reached the West Bengal home of the maid yesterday, but could not locate her husband or other members of her family.
The team is camping in the state and has sought the help of the local police.
The body of 38-year-old Rakhi was found on Monday evening inside Bahujan Samaj Party parliamentarian Dhananjay Singh’s house, with several wounds on it.
Police arrested Dhananjay and his wife, Jagriti Singh, a dentist at a government hospital, in connection with the maid’s murder.
According to police, Shehzan came to Delhi on Thursday to take the body his mother home after a post-mortem examination. He told police that he had not spoken to his mother since she came to Delhi 10 months ago.
