DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange index edged closer to the landmark figure of 14,000, just 211.6 points adrift, when the bourse closed trading at 13,788.40 points, up 0.70 percent (96.28 points) Monday.
The market capitalization increased to QR 744.561 billion today from QR 739.137 registered Sunday.
All indices ended in the green zone today. Transport index gained most, up 1.99 percent to 2,443.23 points followed by telecommunications sector, up 1.56 percent to 1,528.57 points.
Consumer goods and service index was up 1.11 percent to 7,401.54 points.
Banking and financial index was up 0.78 percent to 3,443.56 points.
The trading value increased to QR 902.578 million from Sunday’s QR 875,596 points.
The volume of shares dropped to 12,876,870 from 10,003 transactions today compared to 16,761,968 shares from 8,729 transactions on Sunday.
From the 43 listed companies, shares of 41 saw trading today. From these, 30 made gains, nine went down, and two remained unchanged. (QNA)
