Doha: Qatar Exchange (QE) index gained 101.63 points or 0.75 percent when the bourse closed at 13,692.12 points yesterday from 13,590.49 points on Thursday. The traded value surged to QR875.59m from QR526.9m on Thursday.
The traded volume increased to 16,761,958 shares from 8,729 transactions yesterday compared to 10,508,038 shares from 5,569 transactions on Thursday. The market capitalisation increased to QR739.13bn from QR733.83bn on Thursday.
The banking and financial sector index gained 0.96 percent when it closed at 3,417 points. Industries index gained 0.92 percent (4,576.69 points), consumer goods and services gained 0.62 percent (7,320.16 points), the transport sector gained 0.54 percent (2,395.59 points) and the real estate sector gained 0.35 percent (2,752.31 points). The insurance index dropped 0.87 percent (4,050.34 points) and telecoms fell 0.29 percent (1,505.11 points).
Of the 43 companies listed, shares of 40 companies witnessed trading yesterday. From these 23 advanced, 14 declined, three remained unchanged.
In the banking sector, Qatar National Bank continued its green run, going up 1.74 percent when it closed at QR221.90. Qatar Islamic Bank was up 0.64 percent (QR109.90), Commercial Bank of Qatar rose 0.68 percent (QR73.90), and Doha Bank was up 1.19 percent (QR59.50).
In the consumer goods and services sector, Widam Foods shares rose 3.31 percent (QR 65.50) while Al Meera was up 1.36 percent (QR 194.40). In the insurance sector, Al Khaleej Takaful share made good gains and was up 4.96 percent to QR50.80.
The shares of real estate company Barwa jumped 7.56 percent to QR48.40 with a volume of 4,956,119 shares from 1,231 transactions. QNA
