Doha: The UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited Hamad International Airport.
He congratulated the Emir
H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the airport, describing it as an outstanding landmark for the people of Qatar and the GCC.
While touring the main terminal and other buildings, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on passenger procedures by Akbar Al Baker, CEO, Qatar Airways.
Al Baker said the absorption capacity of the airport in the current stage is about 30 million passengers annually and may reach 50 million when the capacity reaches 80 aircraft of different generations per hour.
Sheikh Mohammed also visited recreational facilities for passengers, restaurants and the baggage section. He said the airport is an urban facade for Qatar and a portal for the entry of people of all nationalities and from different cultural backgrounds into Qatar in particular and the region in general, WAM news agency reported. He said any project accomplished by any of the GCC states “is an achievement for all GCC peoples, given their common destiny outlined by the GCC leaders to achieve unity.” QNA
