DOHA: The technical monitoring section at Doha Municipality has organised regular inspection visits to check whether contractors, consulting offices and companies are complying with construction rules and the law banning labour camps in family residential areas and investigate complaints.
Last year the section issued 4,318 notifications and recorded 516 violations for investigation and follow-up and 3,767 cases of minor violations and asked the violators to correct their status. The section also evacuated 267 labour accommodations in residential areas.
The section, along with a training team from the Ministry of Municipality and Urban and Planning recently investigated a complaint about labour accommodations in Al Sadd, which is one of the areas where labour accommodations are banned.
The team issued notices to evacuate the accommodations within 30 days, based on law no. 15 of 2010.
