DOHA: A wealthy, generous Qatari has donated QR500,000 ($137,306) to the family of an expatriate firefighter who died while doing his duty last Friday. The Moroccan staffer of the Civil Defence Department was in the team that was trying to control an intense inferno in a warehouse in the Industrial Area late on Friday evening.
The firefighter complained of suffocation as clouds of dense and black smoke were billowing from the fire. He was rushed for emergency medical care and declared dead the following morning, local Arabic daily Al Raya reports. The daily said a generous Qatari was moved by reports of the 36-year-old firefighter’s death while rescuing people trapped in the blaze, and gave away QR500,000 in reward for the deceased’s bravery to his dependents.the peninsula
