Environment Minister participates in Sport Day activities

Doha, Qatar: In the presence of  Minister of Environment and Climate Change, H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, the Ministry  organised a range of sporting activities as part of the celebrations marking National Sport Day, held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.

The events were attended by assistant undersecretaries and department directors, who joined ministry employees in various sports activities in an atmosphere characterized by interaction and positive spirit.

The Ministry’s participation in National Sport Day comes in support of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly the pillar of human development, by encouraging employees to adopt healthy behaviors, promoting a culture of physical activity, and fostering a work environment that supports both mental and physical well-being.

The event featured a variety of sports activities, including padel and tennis, as well as walking and physical fitness exercises, with strong participation from ministry employees and their children. The Ministry ensured a fully integrated organisational environment that met safety and comfort standards, providing participants with a safe and enjoyable sporting experience and reflecting a high level of readiness and organization in delivering public events.

H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie emphasized that National Sport Day represents an important national occasion for promoting quality of life and raising awareness of the importance of adopting healthy and sustainable lifestyles, while building a more active society. He noted that the Ministry views sport as a key factor in enhancing job performance, improving the work environment, and supporting the psychological and physical stability of employees, stressing that such initiatives contribute to creating a positive and motivating workplace.

The Minister also highlighted the State of Qatar’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for sports activities through the development of sports infrastructure, public parks, and dedicated walking and cycling tracks that take environmental considerations into account and encourage the sustainable use of facilities.  He affirmed that these efforts reflect the State’s approach to integrating public health with environmental protection within a comprehensive framework.

 For his part, Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri stated that National Sport Day is a unifying national occasion that reflects the State’s commitment to human health and its keenness to embed a culture of sports within society as a fundamental element in building individuals and enhancing their capacity for productivity and contribution.

He noted that Qatar places great importance on raising awareness of the value of physical activity and motivating all segments of society to engage in sports, whether on a regular basis or through the broad community participation witnessed annually on this occasion.
