Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Transport (MoT) and the transportation system entities of Qatar yesterday marked the National Sport Day 2026 with a rich programme of sporting and recreational events for employees and their family members.
The events were organised at the Khalifa Sub-Staduim in Aspire Zone with the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), Qatar Rail, Qatar Aeronautical Academy (QAC), Mwani Qatar, the Hamad Port Project, Qatar Navigation (Milaha), QTerminals, and Mowasalat (Karwa).
Minister of Transport H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani and several officials from the MOT and the transportation system participated in the sporting events.
The Minister said that celebrating the National Sport Day every year shows how important sports is in Qatar and reflects our leadership’s vision for the importance of sports for building humans and the society, something that resulted in a healthy culture instilled in members of the society, in line with the goals of the QNV2023.
He added that the MOT cares about taking part in the National Sport Day alongside the entities of the transportation system to raise awareness of the importance of sports and its key role for community development and welfare, and to promote the practice of sports amongst all people to become part of a healthier lifestyle.
Director General of the Qatar Aeronautical Academy, H E Sheikh Jabor Bin Hamad Al-Thani said that the Academy is pleased to celebrate the National Sport Day of the State of Qatar, held this year under the theme ‘I Chose Sport.’
This occasion highlights the importance of adopting a healthy and active lifestyle and reinforces the idea that engaging in sports is a conscious personal choice that contributes to building a vibrant and healthy society.
CEO of Mwani Qatar, Capt. Abdulla Mohamed Al-Khanji, emphasised that National Sport Day embodies the wise vision of our prudent leadership in building a healthy and vibrant society, which serves as the fundamental pillar for achieving the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
