DOHA: Qatar Company for Meat & Livestock Trading — Widam (formerly Mawashi), has signed a cooperation agreement with the Department of Supply at the Central Tenders Committee to be one of the main distributors of subsidised cattle feed in Qatar, a press release said yesterday.
“We’re very happy to see the launch of Widam perfectly timed with this announcement,” Ahmed Nasser Sraiya Al Kaabi, Managing Director and CEO of Widam, said.
“We hope this agreement would support domestic animal resources and hold many returns for investors.
“Based on our commitment to cattle breeders and to continue supporting our shareholders, we have signed a coordination agreement with the Department of Supply allowing us to distribute subsidised feed,” he said.
Jamil Omran, Sales and Marketing Manager at Widam, said: “Since we are available at the Central Market, we expect heavy demand, but we can confirm to all our clients and customers that all sales processes of the feed will be simple and well-managed.
“Widam has provided special locations and private stores for these processes, and the company’s employees will be available every day from 5am to 5pm and on Fridays from 5am to 10.30am and from 1pm to 5pm to provide any assistance and support for all cattle breeders.
“In the future, we will establish new selling points to cover all of Doha, which will be revealed at a later stage.”
WIDAM yesterday started selling cattle feed that consists of barley and shuar through the main outlet in the Central Market.
Sales will be limited to Qatari cattle breeders, based on the state’s predetermined amounts and approved prices at QR16 for barley and QR10 for shuar.
In addition to subsidised feed, Widam also offers clients a wide variety of feed sourced from many countries, including Qatar, Australia, America, Sudan, Iran and the UAE, the statement added.
