Revised security mechanism in Lahore

LAHORE: Lahore city police authorities have initiated yet another revised security mechanism at four major entry/exit points of the provincial metropolis to plug loopholes and improve checking of suspicious people, and contraband.
Though the exercise is not new as deployment of policemen with security apparatus has been the regular feature at all pickets for the last few years, maintenance of available equipment, paraphernalia, value addition, efficient monitoring and shifting checking mechanism from manual to automation is still a question mark over the seriousness of police authorities.
This time, the Operations Police in association with the City Traffic Police are working on setting up multi-lanes at four entry/exit points instead of using barriers for improving surveillance besides providing latest data of terrorists and secret information about their movements.
According to a police officer, the government will have to equip the police with required paraphernalia and manpower.
