DOHA: The Public Works Authority (AshghalP yesterday inaugurated a Centre for Research and Development.
The centre will focus on research related to road infrastructure and other work such as healthcare and education facilities built by the Ashghal.
It will do chemical and microbiological tests to ensure that out puts of Ashghal’s projects meet local and international quality standards.
The research facility worth more than QR20m was inaugurated by Nasser Al Mawlawi, President, Ashghal.
The research centre has several laboratories to do different kinds of tests. A centre for environmental tests, chemical laboratory and microbiological laboratory are housed in the research centre.
“The research centre will focus on more than roads. It will do research on environmental issues and focus on everything related to Ashghal,” said Al Mawlawi, opening on the sidelines of a ceremony held at the Ashghal office in Najma area.
“It has facilities for soil testing, water testing and everything related to construction work,” he added. Qatar University’s students and faculty too will be involved with Ashghal’s Centre for Research and Development.
“Many projects at the Qatar University will be benefited by this centre. Also our students and faculty will work for projects of Ashghal,” he further said.
