DOHA: Mowasalat yesterday officially opened a wastewater treatment station at Karwa City.

Nasser Al Khanji, business development and strategy director at Mowasalat and its acting executive director inaugurated the facility.

The plant consists of two units, the buffer tank and the sewage treatment plant. The total dailycapacity of the plant is 200 cubic meters of treated water. The main objective of the plant is to treat sewage water and reuse it for irrigation of green areas in Karwa City, which is consequently eliminating the cost of transportation of sewage water to municipal treatment stations and the cost of fresh water used in irrigation.

Karwa City uses 24,000 gallons of water daily for irrigation. The total savings due to the use of treated water, instead of fresh water, for irrigation in Karwa City are worth QR7,603,200, the company said yesterday.
