DOHA: Plans are afoot to build several temporary roads in Al Wakra and Al Wukair to ease traffic congestion during peak hours since the population particularly in Al Wukair has been growing due to the springing up of residential complexes.
The Director of Al Wakra Municipality has said that the civic body will soon embark on the temporary road projects. Also planned in Al Wakra and Al Wukair are at least nine public parks.
The design of one park which is not part of the nine is ready, while tender is to be soon floated for the renovation of Al Wakra public park, Mansoor Ajran Al Boanain said.
Three public parks are under renovation and the work is coming to a close so the park would be reopened for the public soon, Al Boanain told Al Sharq in an interview.
He said that in the first three months of this year, the municipality gave away 493 building licences to construct new buildings, and permission to demolish 19.
Permission for excavations at 25 sites within the jurisdiction of the municipality were also granted during the period, said the director.
