Doha: The Ministry of Interior arrested a gang of 5 people of Asian nationality for pickpocketing money and personal belongings.
The Criminal Investigation Department said it had received reports that the gang stole money and personal belongings from a number of people by distracting them while they are traveling in crowded places.
A specialized team was formed by the Ministry to carry out searches and information gathering, which resulted in the arrest of 5 people. They confessed to the charges against them, and some of the stolen materials were found in their possession.
The accused were referred to the concerned authorities to complete the legal procedures against them.
The Ministry of Interior called on the public to pay attention and take care of personal belongings while moving in crowded places, and to report any suspected case by calling the emergency service.
