Doha: The Consumer Protection Department (CPD) of the Ministry of Business and Trade yesterday said that it detected 101 violations in May during its inspections.
A statement from the Ministry of Business and Trade said the department carries out inspections to balance between protecting the consumer and helping suppliers achieve the profit they seek, in accordance with the law.
The statement said 36 of the violations were related to not showing the price of a commodity in a visible manner, while 19 were for not committing to selling a commodity with the price the supplier listed. Another 15 violations were for false-presentation of a commodity.
The Ministry of Business and Trade said it had received 418 complaints during May. All of them are being dealt with, according to the statement.
