DOHA: In its efforts to transform Qatar’s ICT landscape with high speed Internet connection, Qatar National Broadband Network (QNBN) is pressing ahead with the roll-out of its infrastructure powering Vodafone’s (Vodafone Qatar) Al Safwa Center with broadband fibre optics, a press statement said yesterday.

Vodafone’s Al Safwa Center is located at West Bay in Alfardan Towers.

The initiative underpins QNBN’s efforts to deploy world-class fibre optics broadband network across the nation enabling Qatar to become one of the best connected countries in the world.

The CEO of QNBN, Mohammed Al Mannai, said: “Our progress is strongly materialising on the ground. It reaffirms our pledge to create more potential in the country and it follows other landmarks including our connectivity to Barwa’s developments and our deployed networks along the North and South roads. Our steadfast efforts to complete the roll-out in the West Bay area will also support Vodafone in their offerings to residential customers. Additionally, this attests to our unfaltering commitment to serve the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the wider ICT digitisation agenda together with our ultimate objective to deliver coverage which will transform Qatar through advanced technologies.”

The CEO of Vodafone Qatar, Richard Daly, said: “QNBN is a strong partner for us in the provision of broadband fibre optics with a visionary and collaborative approach to the market. Its role is to connect the nation and transform Qatar’s ICT landscape. Vodafone Qatar is committed to delivering this nationwide goal and our partnership with QNBN will realise this ambition much more quickly.”
