Doha, Qatar: Twenty-three Indian nationals residing in Qatar who were involved in a bus accident in Kenya have been transferred to Nairobi.
The Indian Embassy in Doha confirmed this in a social media post, adding that the post mortem examinations for the five residents who died in the accident were completed last night. "Formalities for transporation of mortal remains are being coordinated by our HCI [High Commission of India] in Nairobi," the embassy stated.
The deceased (pictured above) have been identified as Riya Ann (41) and her daughter Tyra (8); Geetha Shoji Isaac (58); and Jesna (29) and her daughter Roohi Mehrin (1.5 years).
Of the 23 injured Indians transferred to Nairobi, 10 were discharged yesterday after medical checkup. The remaining individuals are receiving necessary medical attention in the Kenyan capital, with constant monitoring and assistance provided by the Indian High Commission.
The accident happened as the bus was carrying the tourists from Nakuru County to Nyahururu Thomson Falls in Laikipia County, before tumbling into the ditch in the Gichaka area, 41 km south of Nyahururu Town.
