Qatar to attend Wipo’s Geneva session

Doha: The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage will take part in the twenty-fifth session of Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property (Wipo) and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore to be held in Geneva from July 15 to 24. 

Ibrahim Abdul Rahim Al Sayed (pictured), who will represent the ministry in the meeting, said that Qatar’s participation is part of its keenness on preserving cultural heritage, and to follow-up debate about glossary of key terms related to intellectual property and genetic resources, traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions among others. 

The Wipo’s twenty-fifth session will discuss a number of issues including, Information Note for the Panel of Indigenous and Local Communities, Report of Indigenous Expert Workshop on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Traditional Cultural Expressions, The Protection of Traditional Cultural Expressions, Wipo Voluntary Fund for Accredited Indigenous and Local Communities, Information Note on Contributions and Applications for Support and Resources available on the Wipo Traditional Knowledge, Traditional Cultural Expressions and Genetic Resources Website.
