TEHRAN: Iran has inaugurated a dry dock in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran Thursday for the repair and inspection of ships
The dry dock was built by Iran Shipbuilding and Offshore Industries Complex CO. (ISOICO).
It is a dock that can be drained of water to allow the inspection and repair of a ships hull.
Some $443 million have been spent for building of the project in Bandar Abbas
So far ISOICO could only repair 80-ton ships, but inauguration of the dry dock project would enable the company to repair the 400-ton ships.
The project aimed at repairing LNG carriers and very large crude carriers (VLCC). (QNA)
