Foreign Minister leads Qatar delegation to OIC meeting

Jeddah: The Foreign Minister H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah led yesterday Qatar’s delegation to the extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of Foreign ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states , which kicked off in Jeddah.

During the meeting, the foreign ministers discussed the latest developments in Gaza and ways of confronting to Israel’s escalating aggression against the Palestinian people.
The Foreign Minister stressed in a statement Qatar’s position in supporting the Palestinian people, renewing a call for a swift move to end Israel’s aggression against them and lift the unjust siege on Gaza Strip.)

Minister of Culture discusses promoting theatre movement


Doha: The Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage H E Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari met yesterday with a number of prominent figures of the Qatari theatres, as well as intellectuals and figures of the media to discuss how to encourage the theatre movement in Qatar.
He said that his meeting was part of ministry’s continuous effort to push the theatre movement in Qatar forward. He added that the ministry made a number of steps to promote theatre, including providing acting, writing and directing workshops.
The ministry is also looking to establish two new theatre teams, in addition to working on creating an online library to document Qatari plays. The Minister called on all parties interested in culture in Qatar to work together to promote the theatre movement.
Al Kuwari  listened to the ideas of intellectuals regarding possible new projects for the ministry to adapt. He also answered a number of questions, including the possibility of lifting censorship on theatre  and bringing back the Doha Cultural festival.

Labour Minister meets Indian envoy

Doha: The Minister of Labour and Social Affairs H E Dr Abdullah Saleh Mubarak Al Khulaifi met yesterday with India’s Ambassador to Qatar Sanjeev Arora.
The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and means of enhancing and developing them. The two sides also discussed several issues of mutual concern.
A group of senior ministry officials attended the meeting.
