Saudia plane catches fire while landing at Peshawar airport in Pakistan

Doha, Qatar: Fire broke out in the front landing gear of the Saudia passenger plane while landing at Peshawar airport in in Pakistan. 

Local media reports stated that all crew and passengers were evacuated immediately using evacuation slides. 

The incident occured on an aircraft that had took off from Riyadh, stated Civil Aviation Authority of the country in a statement.

It further added that all 276 passengers and 21 crew were safely evacuated and fire services averted the danger by quickly extinguising the fire. 

In an official statement, the airlines clarified that its flight number SV792 experienced smoke emanating from one of the tires during landing at Peshawar. "The aircraft was immediately stopped and relavant authorities were notified. All guests and crew were safely evacuated," it added.  

It further said that the seven-year-old aircraft is undergoing a technical inspection and subsequent tests to ensure its safety.
