Doha: The Public Works Authority — Ashghal — has announced that one of the three lanes in both directions on Al Shamal Road near Al Rayyan Interchange will be closed to traffic at Thursday midnight.
The closure will last three months.
The closure, which is around 300 metres in length, will not affect commuter traffic, as an alternative lane will be added to each direction to maintain the same number of lanes as the existing road. Diversion works have commenced and the new road layout will be opened on Friday morning to northbound traffic and on Saturday morning to southbound traffic.
The closure is needed to allow for the construction of the bridge to link Al Rayyan Road to Al Shamal Road to help reduce traffic congestion in Al Rayyan.
Ashghal urged road users to abide by speed limits and follow road signs to ensure their safety.
