Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Tuesday that his country registered the first coronavirus vaccine in the world.
The Russian President said, during a cabinet meeting held via video conference, that the vaccine trials yielded positive results, with all volunteers having built up immunity to the coronavirus.
President Putin added, while requesting the Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko to provide details about the vaccine the country will begin a mass vaccination campaign in October, starting with teachers and medical workers.
The Russian President confirmed that the vaccination process will be available to all Russian citizens soon and without financial compensation. It will be in stages, starting with medical teams fighting against the virus on the front lines, reaching the elderly people at risk and finally, ordinary citizens.
In the same context, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko announced that the first Coronavirus vaccine was registered in Russia and showed high efficiency.
Murashko said the vaccine showed high efficacy and safety, through tests on volunteers who did not show any serious complications.
