Doha, Qatar: Qatari students have secured eight honorary certificates at the 2026 World Mathematics and Logic Games Championship, held in Milan, Italy, marking a notable achievement for Qatar at the international competition.
The accomplishment highlights the students’ strong performance in mathematics and logic and their ability to compete successfully at major international scientific events.
The achievement followed a comprehensive preparation programme that began with screening tests conducted in public and private schools, before selected students underwent intensive training under a team of local and international coaches. The programme was supervised and followed up by mathematics section specialists within the Educational Guidance Department of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s Educational Affairs Sector.
The achievement is part of the ongoing efforts of the Educational Affairs Sector to support gifted students, develop their abilities in mathematics and logic, and prepare them to compete in international scientific competitions. These efforts contribute to strengthening Qatar’s position on the global map of scientific excellence and reflect the country’s vision of investing in people and developing national talent capable of competing globally.
The World Mathematics and Logic Games Championship is one of the leading international competitions specialising in the field. This year marked its 40th edition, with participation from 23 countries and 595 students, underscoring the championship’s prominent international standing.
Qatar’s participation this year was its second appearance in the competition, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to expanding Qatari students’ participation in global scientific competitions, equipping them with the necessary experience and enhancing their readiness to compete at the highest levels.
During their stay in Milan, the Qatari delegation also followed a preparation and training programme featuring intensive sessions on solving mathematical and logic problems, as well as reviewing strategies and thinking methods. The programme aimed to enhance the students’ readiness ahead of the competition and contributed to strengthening their performance and demonstrating a high level of commitment and discipline throughout the championship.
On the sidelines of the championship, the Qatari delegation organised an interactive event showcasing Qatar and its culture. The event featured activities and logic games inspired by Qatari identity, along with the assembly and display of models depicting prominent national landmarks.
The initiative provided participants with an innovative and interactive opportunity to discover aspects of Qatari culture.
The event attracted significant interest from participants and international delegations, drawing large numbers of students and supervisors from different countries. Visitors actively engaged with the activities and praised the organisation and quality of the content.
