Doha: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) yesterday announced that the African Super Cup between South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Algeria’s USM Alger will be played on November 8 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
Sundowns, the CAF Champions League winners, will face USM Alger, the CAF Confederation Cup champions, in a single match for the African Super Cup title.
Sundowns won the CAF Champions League for the second time last season after beating Morocco’s FAR Rabat 2-1 on aggregate in the two-legged final.
USM Alger secured the CAF Confederation Cup title after defeating Egypt’s Zamalek 8-7 on penalties following a two-legged final.
Both teams have previously won the African Super Cup. Sundowns lifted the title in 2017, while USM Alger won it in 2023. Both will be aiming to claim the trophy for a second time.
CAF also announced the dates for the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup. First-leg matches will be played from September 4 to 6, 2026, with return legs scheduled from September 11 to 13.
