DOHA: Qatar Exchange index gained 61.36 points (0.44 percent) when the bourse closed trading at 14,088.82 points Thursday.
The trading value decreased to QR656.517 million from Wednesday's closing of QR735.521 million while the trading volume was down to 10,948,355 shares from 15,711,744.
The number of transactions was down to 6,146 from 7,468.
Banks and financial sector index was up 0.67 percent, industries 0.71 percent, consumer goods and services 0.42 percent, transport 0.38 percent and insurance rose slightly by 0.08 percent.
Telecommunications and real estate sector indices dropped marginally by 0.28 percent and 0.04 percent respectively.
From the 43 listed companies, shares of 40 firms were traded. From these 21 made gains, 15 declined while four remained unchanged.
Widam Food Company was the top gainer today, up 5.44 percent to QR65.90 from the previous day's QR62.50. Qatar National Bank was up 1.86 percent to QR 207.80. (QNA)
